Amelia Beaumont

Role at Cross Rhythms Plymouth: Amelia, along with Tanya, is the co-presenter of Coffee Catch-Ups Espresso; a condensed version of their podcast, Coffee Catch-Ups.
About: Amelia was born and raised in Plymouth, and currently works for the National Trust at a nearby property as part of both the business services and visitor welcome teams. She loves history and studied Ancient History with Advanced Spanish at Exeter University and eventually, she would like to work as a cultural heritage curator. She is also a keen traveller, taking the chance to explore new places whenever she can. If you listen to Coffee Catch-Ups, you will quickly find out that she spent some time living in Latin America during her gap year, which is definitely her favourite adventure so far! When she isn’t working or podcasting with Tanya, you can often find her in one of her two happy places: curled up with a book or down by the sea.
Faith Testimony: Amelia was raised as a Christian, and has been involved in church all her life. She made a commitment to Jesus when she was 9, and was baptised at the age of 13. However, she massively struggled with being bullied in school, and although she didn’t lose her faith in God, it became a challenge to believe that she had any value in herself. This led to some strong feelings of loneliness and worthlessness and by the age of 14, she had seen her first explicit video, which then developed into a full-blown addiction. Eventually, after 12 years of failed commitments to stop, intense bouts of guilt intermingled with apathy and depression, she went into the prayer tent at Creation Fest 2022 and broke down weeping. After a long conversation with the volunteers there and a sincere prayer of repentance, God healed her. It felt like a physical weight being lifted from her shoulders and since that day she has been entirely free from addiction. Although she still messes up in plenty of other ways, not once has God ever given up on her, and not once have her many shortcomings ever stopped him from loving her.
Favourite Food: Pretty much anything that comes under the umbrella of ‘Latin American comfort food’ – especially chaufa (Peruvian egg-fried rice), sopaipillas (Chilean bread made with pumpkin purée), and ají de gallina (Peruvian chicken curry)!
Fun Fact: One of the weirdest things Amelia has ever eaten is scrambled egg with cactus! It was served to the team on a volunteering trip to Mexico and tasted a lot like green pepper.
